Brick by brick, course by course, challenge by challenge, it expanded. From a few classrooms to state-of-the-art labs. From limited streams in engineering to an interdisciplinary ecosystem. From educating students for employment to educating them for life.

Now, in its 25th year, the journey of this institution remains a testament to how vision, when combined with action, can leave a legacy of change.

Laying the Groundwork: The Foundational Years
The journey commenced in the year 2001–02 with the introduction of TCET as a Hindi Linguistic Minority Institute. Its aim was unambiguous: to provide quality technical education on par with international standards while remaining grounded in ethical principles and social responsibility.
The initial years were dedicated to establishing a strong academic and infrastructural foundation. Computer Engineering, Information Technology, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering programs laid the base.
Each course was designed to deliver not only theoretical depth but also practical preparedness, supported by new-generation technologies and industry connections.
These formative years also saw the development of student-centred processes, disciplined teaching practices, and a culture of intellectual rigor that would later become the hallmark of TCET.
Scaling Up: Growth and Recognition
As the world entered a phase of rapid digital acceleration, TCET responded with academic expansion. Postgraduate programs in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, and Communication Technology marked a new phase of growth.
The institute stepped into research with the introduction of Ph.D. programs in major engineering disciplines, fostering inquiry and innovation.
Accreditations followed. NAAC awarded TCET an “A” grade, multiple programs received NBA accreditation, and ISO certifications ensured process excellence. Permanent affiliation with the University of Mumbai and national recognition through awards like the IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award reaffirmed TCET’s standing.
These milestones were not merely achievements but reflections of an unwavering commitment to quality and relevance.
Transformation in Action: Embracing a Changing World
The last few years have marked a period of rapid transformation. As industries embraced artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, and data science, TCET reshaped its academic framework to meet future demands.
New-age undergraduate programs such as B.Tech in AI and Data Science, AI and ML, IoT, and Cybersecurity were introduced. Vocational education expanded under NSQF with B.Voc programs in Animation, Data Analytics, and Software Development.
For working professionals, customized programs enabled continuous upskilling without career disruption.
By the academic year 2025–26, TCET offers 37 unique programs across six academic verticals including Engineering, Technology, Computer Applications, Management Studies, Vocational Studies, and Working Professional programs. Integrated MBA and MCA programs further bridge the gap between technology and business.
