As such Indian research needs to remain at world frontiers if it is to boost economic productivity and competitiveness, strengthen national security, improve human health, and achieve other national objectives in the next century.

Understanding the need for encouraging engineering graduates towards pursuing research, the TCET Research & Development Cell was setup in the year 2013. Under this Cell the technical talent of students is nurtured. It gives them a platform to check the feasibility of their ideas by developing small circuits or projects under hobby club facilities. The projects developed by students are evaluated at various levels, first at the department level and then at institute level by experts from reputed academic institutes and industries for maintaining quality of work. The projects which have the potential of being converted into products are reviewed by expert entrepreneurs and industrialists. Furthermore, students are encouraged to take part in various national and international level competitions to enhance their technical competency. Innovative ideas are even consider for Intellectual Property Right like copyrights and patents. Various workshops and webinars are also organized where students are given exposure for latest technologies beyond syllabus which helps them to bridge the gap between academia and industry, and for skill enhancement.
